Agiorgitiko

Agiorgitiko is one of the noblest red Greek grapevine varieties. It has been cultivated in the greater area of Nemea (2700 ha) for many years, where during the ancient times (4th century BCE - Before Common Era) the famous red wine fliasios was produced. The viticultural zone of production of PDO red wines “Nemea” is the largest one of Greece and it is characterized by great heterogeneity of soil and climate conditions (altitude 250 - 850 m), due to its great surface area. The cultivation of grapevine variety Agiorgitiko is recommended for the viticultural region of Peloponnese, southeast Attica, Piraeus, Prefectures of Aitoloakarnania, Voiotia, Evvoia and is allowed for Prefectures of Drama, Pella, Pieria and Florina.
