Cabernet Franc

Cabernet franc is an old French grapevine variety originating from Bordeaux. It has been cultivated since the 17th century in the regions of Gironde, Dordogne, Touraine, Anjou, where it occupies a total surface area of 15000 ha approximately. It is also cultivated in small surface areas in Italy, California, Australia, South America, South Africa and elsewhere. In Greece, the cultivation of Cabernet franc is recommended for the viticultural area of Peloponnese and Prefectures of Viotia, Drama, Ioannina, Kavala, Serres, Fthiotida and Chalkidiki.
